Next weekend, the I-90 on-ramp at Newbury Street / Mass Ave will be shut down from Friday night and reopen early Monday morning.
Timing: Friday 9/25 at 11 p.m. through Monday 9/28 by 5 a.m.
Purpose: work within the area of the current on-ramp is required to prepare to shift the ramp into its new, straightened and improved alignment. When construction is complete, the project will simplify the Newbury Street / Mass. Ave intersection and access to the on-ramp, while improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists crossing the intersection.
Detour: A signed detour will be posted for drivers to access the Turnpike westbound via the Arlington Street / Marginal Road on-ramp in the Back Bay, via Commonwealth Avenue and Arlington Street (as shown below).
